Eliot Hotel (Boston, MA)

The snow and icy conditions of Boston winters have created issues for delivery trucks accessing the Eliot Hotels receiving door.  The rear entrance is extremely steep and narrow, and also offsets. TE2 Engineering was hired by the hotel to find a solution. Our team designed a snowmelt system for the entire ramp and delivery area, which included hydronic PEX piping, rigid insulation, a dedicated condensing gas boiler and advanced controls for slab and moisture sensing. This allowed the client to balance system operation between efficiency and response time.

After the worst winter on record for Boston (2014-2015), the Manager of the Hotel told us that “The system worked flawlessly and kept the ramp clear of snow and ice… Thank you for all of your help!”
